Evaluation-Question 7= Looking back at your preliminary task what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?




These are screenshots of both the prelim task and the real opening sequence, we are showing how we have widened our variety of shots, improved the quality and added titles to the film. Below we have added information about how we improved between both of the films and what we improved on.



























What we have learnt since our prelim task:

In our real opening sequence we have improved on the 180 degree rule by making the shot closer so therefore clearer. The shot is when Dory and Penny are having a conversation whilst Dory is walking in the room. We have widened the amount of Camerawork and angles so therefore it makes them more varied. For example we have a close up shot of some hands on a controller this is when Penny is playing the video game. This also express’s the genre more because people that fit the Genre for example Emo’s and Jock’s play more video games and can relate to the film more. To improve even more we have added some match on action in the sequence to vary the amount of camera shots to make it fit the genre better because we can show the 'Gamer Girl' theme more by adding the effects on the screen of playing the video game. Our Shot to reverse shot has improved because we have done it with better angles so this time it wasn’t so hard to make also it makes it more flowing because it shows that the conversation is faster so therefore it looks more natural.  For example when Penny scares Dory at the beginning of the film we have the camera at the angle where you can see both of the actors talk. We have a lot less continuity errors compared to our prelim task because we now understand more how to film and edit on the software Adobe Premier, to be able to get our film on Premier we had to transfer it from the video camera and any extra sounds that we have recorded from our phones we had to transfer it onto Premier by using a memory stick. Our skills with technology when using premier have improved for example we have added titles and animations during the film to make it more like a video game. We have also learnt and expanded our knowledge on how to build tension and suspense in a scene because we know to use good music and light settings and different scenery too. For example in Zomped when Dory is walking to the shed there is breathing and dramatic music and its dark outside too so that helps with the atmosphere. We were able to emphasize with the characters personalities due to their realistic problems for example Penny having no friends. We researched the genre much more in depth than the prelim task we studied the costumes, scenery and plot a lot more to emphasise and make it more accurate for example we looked at our target audience in a lot of detail so we know what we have to base the film around. We decided to base the film on 15-21 year olds, both genders. When filming we improved our location that is more suitable to the genre because we researched the stereotypical ‘gamer girls’ location which was in a bedroom playing computer games. Overall looking back at the prelim task we made the whole film better because we were influenced by films like Scott Pilgrim Vs. the world, Shaun of the dead and Zombie land.

This is a video we have made of what technology our group used to make the opening sequence 'Zomped'. We used a variety of equipment from a memory stick to a tripod to be able to make the film good.

Evaluation-Question 5=How did you Attract/Address your audience?

Ramona Flowers


Penny 

We have decided that Scott pilgrim Vs the world's main female protagonist Ramona Flowers is extremely similar to our movie zomped's main female protagonist Penny. Penny much like Ramona is a sarcastic and out of place teenager  that doesn't get very close to the people around her. Although Penny and Ramona are social virgins , only really liking males they are both are surprisingly skilled at fighting. Penny and Ramona both are extremely flamboyant in the way they present themselves, Ramona and her constant hair colour changes and penny with her crazy costumes. However, Penny and Ramona are considerably different. Ramona unlike penny is  an intense romantic interesting within the film and while both of them get on better with boys Ramona looks at them as more of a romantic interest appose to just friends

Evaluation-Question 4=Who would be the audience for your movie?




This is an image in which I drew to present our target audience. Our movie targets teens from 15-21 boys and girls. The ideal group we are looking at targeting is of an alternative nature most likely gamers, obviously lovers of zombie and comedy films, Probably liking movies such as Scott pilgrim vs the world , Shaun of the dead or zombie land. This social group could be considered as hipsters or even geeks. We feel the selling point to this certain social group would be the fact we incorporate a lot of what these people enjoy e.g. games, comics, movies and even anime. Their dress sense normally is influenced by the things they like therefore a person that has a love for anime and Japanese culture will almost defiantly colour their hair much like the girl you see below. A gamer however will not care too much for their appearance and will normally wear a simple t-shirt with their favourite game logo on it e.g. borderlands, bio shock, dead rising etc. This is the same for both female and male. Although the themes in our movie are primarily male we feel this would target more so the female audience. This is due to the two main protagonists being female within a male world and can also be deemed quite feminist also saying that just because they are girls does not mean they cant do exactly what a guy can do. Conventionally within the genre of film it would be extremely male based with only the female as the "damsel" however we have decided to switch this idea completely to create something much more appealing towards women.


The girls within our movie are presented as very powerfully, headstrong young females that do not let others get the best of them even though they are severely bullied and have nobody but each other. For this reason our movie could also target the emotional side of our target audience and become appealing towards the hand full of people that may get bullied at school.This may give them a little more confidence in themselves while also being able to relate to Penny and Dory. Due to our movie having a little touch of everything we have an extremely wide range to consider for our target audience. There is alot of violence however not gory at all. This could appeal to families with teenage children while also appealing to the parents due to the 80's and 90's retro game references.

Evaluation-Question 2=How does your media product present particular social groups?

Our media product only presents one particular social group.There are not enough films that present the alternative social group made up of geeks,gamers,emos,goths,hipsters etc. Due to this we found it hard to find sources in other movies showing similar people to our characters.Although our characters are presented as geeky,socially awkward game addicts we did not go COMPLETELY stereo typical in the way we showed them.We conducted a survey and approached people we felt would like our movie.From this we felt we would take a much more realistic approach towards our characters and allow the target audience to relate to our characters.We have added in small stereo typical elements within the opening scene to define the genre.Although we have used stereo typical elements we have shown the alternate social group as nothing more than what it really is. Penny the lead protagonist is shown to be a Japanese obsessed gamer girl with many social issues hiding herself behind her hair and her yellow pikachu onesie.Dory however is presented as a young goody two shoes book worm that in her spare time likes to be a little bit of a rebel and play video games with her friend Penny.Dory is shown not to have any apparent social issues there for we show two sides of the alternate scene. The issues that these girls have are real issues that people within this particular social group tend to have therefore the audience can find themselves relating to either the main protagonist Penny or the sidekick Dory.

I also feel we raise the issue of bullying within this social group and show exactly how out casted the rest of society makes these people feel. When Dory asks Penny about having a house party she replies "yeah, i could invite you and........... never mind". This shows that People like Dory and Penny who are in fact representation of the alternative scene are taken for granted and pushed out of society like unwanted stray dogs.For this reason they stick together to allow themselves at least a small amount of friendship into their lives. The fact that we raise the bullying issue helps connect with audience but also shows people who would not be considered alternative how their small actions make this particular group of people feel.In summery we present the alternative social group as completely separate from conventional social standards. Unlike typical mainstream social groups such as popular girls, jocks etc. each person is completely unique .

















 

Evaluation - Question 1=In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products? (i.e. film openings)

Annotations have been made on some of the frames (the ones in yellow); these identify the features of the sequence which show conventions of the genre(s). (Click on the image to enlarge and read the annotations).



Our opening titles were inspired by those in Zombieland. We found the Zombieland titles interesting because the typography is bold and appropriate for the genre, and they are positioned and animated to look as if they are hovering on buildings, people, etc... (see below also)



We also took inspiration from the camerawork of similar films such as Shaun of the Dead and Scott Pilgrim Vs the World. Edgar Wright frequently uses quick cuts of this style throughout his films, including these and Hot Fuzz and The World's End. Edgar uses them for a comedic effect, as we have also; the sequence starts off with very fast paced shots to give an 'epic montage' - like effect, which is juxtaposed with an almost painfully slow shot at the end.




Character Conventions

Penny and Dory reflect typical gamer-girls as portrayed in film and television. Penny, in particular, reflects (of the same), Penny from The Big Bang Theory, in one episode when her character profile is flipped as she becomes addicted to computer-games.


Similarly, Dory's costume/persona takes inspiration
from the character Amy, also from The Big Bang
Theory.















Somewhat alike the use of female actors in The Big Bang Theory, we decided to challenge the typical convention of male 'gamer-nerds' such as Shaun and Ed in Shaun of the Dead. We feel that this successfully added an element of originality to our film.

We decided to cut this sequence from the end of the final cut for the examiner's marking purposes, as the overall sequence would have been too long.

Another reason for which decided to cut this footage is because some of the feedback which we received from our peers and our target audience suggested that the scene and the dialogue 'dragged' too much. Also, one of our teachers added that it developed the sequence beyond an opening sequence, because the character profiles began to develop at too much of an early stage.

We presented the rough cut of zomped to an audience to gain some feedback as to the successfulness of the film so far. Although we felt we had done an extremely good job the feedback showed us exactly where we were lacking, and we were lacking alot. Alot of people said that the sounds were too fake and alot of people felt it looked too much like a trailer.For this reason we decided to reshoot and get exactly what we needed.

Today we hosted a screening of our film, showing it to a group of members of our target audience. We gave them each a copy of the questionnaire as previously shown, and received a lot of results. We also received some more feedback from one of our teachers, and some from other media students.

Production Diary

George has spent hours at home editing the new footage and adding the animation effects to make it look better. He has also worked a lot on the animations for the titles at the beginning of the film too. We have encountered a few problems when it came to exporting the film as it didnt copy the animation of the titles over so we all have to redo the titles in school hours instead which is going to be quite difficult as the computers shut down automatically at 5 and the teachers go home too.

Production Diary

Today in our lesson we createded a questionnaire to give to people for feedback, all three of us all put input in to think of the questions. Also since our progress for zomped since we have refilmed, we decided to show a few people our film opening to see what they think. We gave them our questionnnaire to fill in and give back to us.We got a lot of comments saying people really like the sound effects and that the genre of the film is obvious. Then when people rated our opening we got a range of 6.5-9 out of 10 which was quite good. Also in todays lesson we have videoed a few people and one of our teachers and asked for thier comments to see what they think of our film. We are currently creating a cartoon storyboard presenting all of the feedback we recieved from both students and teachers, we will put this on the blog soon.

In Shaun of the Dead and Scott Pilgrim, our two chosen films in which we took influence from, quick cuts are used. We will use these due to the comedy value it has.

After reading each of our feed back forms we came to the conclusion to re film zomped.
The most popular comments were:

the dubbing was all wrong
american accents were bad
was boring
sloppy
the sound effects were really bad
hated the zombie at the end


We improved each one of these flaws when reshooting while also adding a lot more shots and angles. We also changed the script completely to go better with the comedy theme.

Teacher feedback for Zomped

After we showed the teachers our rough copy for our opening film zomped they gave us lots of little bits to improve on. The first thing we discussed was the plot and storyline of the film it didnt really make sense and it was painfully slow and therefore this made it boring to watch so to improve this we have decided to refilm the second half of our film and change all of the scipt also the teachers did not see the point of our ameican accents so we have decided to change them back to english to make it clearer to understand. Mrs Field told us to make it more video game like for example add more animations on the screen like an energy level bar then change it everytime we drink and move also make the words bigger that come out of Kaitlyns head and also we thought of putting boxes above our heads so we know the name of the characters. Mr Armato told us to add clips of us actually playing the video games and a shot of the television without us. We got advised to try to widen our range of shots to try and gain more marks.

ZOMPED-recording the foley sound effect



This is a video of Emma and George recording the sounds for the foot steps when Emma walks up the drive and then in the background is Emma's heavy breathing to make it sound like a zombie. We experimented a variety of places inside and out to record the sound we needed for the footsteps, we tried in the school playground, in the corrior, under the stairs, the classroom. We repeated this process to dub in Emma and Kaitlyn's voices in a couple of the scenes. We used Emma's breathing for the foleys sound effect.

This is Kaitlyn's design for the first poster for our movie opening zomped. The idea was to have a close up shot of a zombie pixelated to make it a little more gameified. It is intended to look like the zombie is coming out of the game . This works well because of the plot and theme of our movie. The fact there is a lot of bold red used within the poster makes it stand out and is more likely to attract the audience.

Production diary group meeting

Today we continued to give ideas towards our opening titles. We edited the clips adding music, sound effects, dubbing over our voices and improving the titles. We experimented with different fonts ect. We also experimented with the titles by allowing them to move with the movement of the scene. For example if the gate opens the title will follow the movement of the gate.

We also came up with new and exciting ideas for small visual effects.

Opening Sequence - Rough Cut


Here's the rough-cut for the opening sequence to Zomped. The final cut will feature roughly fifteen credits, with the same style, typography and animation, some more sound effects will be added, for example the rustling of a packet, and some of the dialogue will be dubbed in or edited for clarity.

Today we created a short montage-style clip to reflect the character profiles of Penny and Dory.

Here's a Preliminary poster that Kaitlyn created for ZOMPED, during the pre-filming stage. It involves features of the video-game theme, e.g. the Mario style typography and the pixelation effect, and the zombie theme with the comic-style zombies in the background. The design was inspired by and took into consideration features of posters for the films of which we have researched.

Here is the storyboard we created for the ZOMPED opening sequence. Initially we all agreed on each individual frame, then Kaitlyn drew up the storyboard, George took photos of each frame and put them together in a video and Emma narrated. In addition to the frames listed here, we will over-shoot by recording some extra, different frames and decide what works best when it comes to editing.

ZOMPED Group Meeting #4 - Script & Shooting Schedule

Today we wrote up a final draft for the script and filled out a shooting schedule. Although the script is final, we will, when shooting, take a few of each shot which contains dialogue, changing the lines slightly each time so that we can decide on what dialogue works best at a later stage; this may involve asking someone from our target audience. When writing the script, we took into consideration conventions of the different genres such as Comedy, for example Penny saying 'that was just my brother' (after having hit him with a cricket bat and knocked him out).





ZOMPED Soundtrack - Inspiration & Ideas




We would like the soundtrack for ZOMPED to feature elements of themes such as the Mario theme, to link it to the video-game theme(s). We could record a cover of this theme, accompanied by a chilling background track to also present conventions of Horror.

My Prelim task


This is my prelim task made and edited by me, James and Lara. Our clip is about some teenagers playing hide and seek and when Lara goes into the cupboard to find James she discovers a whole new world inside it. As they go and explore the world they find a mysterious creature that they did not expect to find. Lara and James acted in the film and I videoed it. We over shot a lot of the sections to make sure we had enough footage and included everything in it that we need. Also we edited it together and we decided what transitions and animations we needed, to make it better so therefore more flowing. All three of us worked together to find and choose the appropriate sound we needed for the background of the clip for example the jaws theme tune and a scream for the end when Lara and James are running away from the scary creature. This helped improve our clip because it made it more exciting and interesting.

The positive feedback for our clip was the use of costume and scenery was very good because it was unique and very creative and you dont see many things like it, also by the good use of scenery and background it makes the clip more colourful and makes it stand out more. The negative comments about our clip was the acting needed to be improved and the transitions could be made better to make it look more professional then this would improve the entire clip.

Zomped Inspiration And Ideas


This is the opening credits to the film Shaun of the dead, this film inspired us when thinking of ideas for our clip because we loved the titles and the way they were presented because they were so varied for example when the actual name of the film appears on the screen it is on the ground where they are all walking. Also we love the idea of when a character appears on the screen they get introduced with a box that says their name, the characters name and then something little about the character. All the words presented are shown in a different way and they come from different positions. The Music in the clip is quite upbeat and this contrasts with the acting because the characters are acting like zombies in their everyday life and usually in normal predictable films the music would be errie, dark and scary and this music has a beat in it so this also makes it different.

ZOMPED Group Meeting #2

Today, me and my group researched various opening credits sequences to horror, comedy, and horror-comedy films



The first shot of our opening sequence will be a tracking shot going up the driveway to a house and through an open garage. We would like to have credits similar to these, at various angles, to look as if they are placed upon a van, the driveway, the house, etc.



We would also like to have captions for the two characters appear on screen to identify their name and personality. This would link to the video-game/comedy genre.

Today, me and my group pitched our original film opening sequence ideas to one another, and decided to go with 'ZOMPED'. We have discussed and agreed upon when/where we will film each shot, and how we will plan the production, as well as how we will gather costumes/props together.

1. What is the definition of a Title Sequence?
A title sequence is the text that comes up on the start of the film and in the opening scene. The words that come up is title of the film and also the names of the people that acted and that created the film.
2. What is the function of a Title Sequence?

The function of a title sequence is to show the audience who created the film like the director, make-up artist, costume designer and lots more also who all the actors are and who played what character.

b) Saturday Night Fever
c) Singin' in the rain

The text is quite flashy and it is presented in a way that stands out because it appears word by word and is in the colour red also it is in time with the music. This shows it is upbeat because the music in the background has got a beat to it and this makes the opening sequence more exciting.

Saturday night fever is shown by a medium shot on John Travolta's face whilst he is walking and it has a city in the background then it tilts down his body to his feet and that's when the words 'Saturday Night Fever' appear. It shows the film is quite musical because it is set in the city and he is quite relaxed walking around seeing all the sights and music is in the background. The text is quite flashy and it is presented in a way that stands out.

The pink panther opening scene the music creates a mysterious feeling in the audience because it is quite happy and unexpected. The background is black and only shows the inspector and the pink panther so it makes the audience think because it doesn't give anyone any hints on what's to happen. It also shows off the two characters and their personalities by the inspector doing lots of clumsy things and the pink panther hiding from him.
7. What does the use of Typography Elements (text), Visual Imagery/Sound Elements in the chosen film Title Sequence suggest about the theme/content of the film?

By the opening of the film it looks like it is going to by pretty clumsy because the pink panther almost gets squashed by all the letters so it shows that bad things are going to happen that we don't even know about. The sound is very mysterious, jumpy and unexpected so it shows that the film is going to be similar to this.

Batman-The typography was black and yellow this is good because it is the traditional batman colours. The text was yellow and the background was dark. The sound was very eerie which gave the scary impression and gave the audience no idea of what the scene was going to withhold.
9. What does the use of Typography Elements (text), Visual Imagery/Sound Elements in the chosen film Title Sequence suggest about the theme/content of the film?
The background was really black and dark so you couldn't see what was going on which made the audience think that the theme of the film was going to be scary and mysterious. The music also gives the impression of a scary theme because it is loud at times and very dramatic.
10. What does Richard Morrison explain about the Film Title Sequence?

Richard Morrison said "I did not know Tim before so I had to pitch for the project. We just had to make sure what we were about. I sat with him for a few minutes, and then just walked around the set of Gotham city. And that was it, really. I clearly remember I sat back in the car and all of a sudden, I knew it. I knew it had to be something about the classic Batman comic logo. I thought, ‘What if we think of that in a 360ยบ move? How about if it’s in landscape? How about I make it something you can move around, so you don’t quite know what it is?’ So that was the idea and then I just invented the world around it. Nobody did anything like it before so that’s why it probably retained its timeless feel."
11. Does Richard Morrison feel the Film Title Sequence was successful, why or why not?

Yes he thinks it is successful because he wanted to do a 360 degree move over the landscape which was quite hard to do and he did not know how to do it so it would give the impression that the audience would not know what it is so then it would make the audience feel scared as they do not know where they are.
12. What does the use of Typography Elements (text), Visual Imagery/Sound Elements in the chosen film Title Sequence suggest about the theme/content of the film?
Sweeny Todd- the text is in the colour red to represent blood of the victims he murdered. Some of the text is also is white so it makes it stand out more in contrast to the black smoke and street. The sound is very loud, scary and eerie this is to help cover up the sound of the screams of the people being killed. Also it is to make it more dramatic because people are constantly dying.
13. What does Richard Morrison explain about the Film Title Sequence?

Richard Morrison said "This industry is very specific and if you do a good job then you tend to be remembered by directors and producers. What I enjoyed most was coming up with the whole idea. I did not have to pitch to Tim but I turned this project into an internal pitch at th1ng. And so, a few days later, I had a room full of some truly outstanding creative work. I took it all to Tim and he just spread the pieces all over the floor and spent around a day or two looking through them. And then he just said: I really like this narrative piece (mine) and those coloured frames (Shay Hamias, director).
Animating blood and its movement became the most crucial and challenging element of the sequence. We had to build special platforms within which we imitated blood movement and filmed it. And we had to give it this comical feel, which worked really well. That was a dream project. We would love to work on something similar."
14. Does Richard Morrison feel the Film Title Sequence was successful, why or why not?
Yes because he enjoyed coming up with the idea because he had to build a special platform for the animated blood and this worked really well so he enjoyed doing the project. 
 

AS Media Film Opening Example



This film is called 'Red Tide' I like this film opening because it makes it feel really realistic of a war situation and how it would actually be in a battle. The genre of the film would be war and this was very obvious because of the setting of the clip and how they were crawling on the ground. The helicopter animation was very good and creative so this would make a good war film. Not many people would think of doing something like that so I would give this film opening a level 4 mark 48 out of 60 because I like how imaginative they have been. The acting could be a bit better but because you can hear lots of gun shots they kind of get away with it. The gun shots both sound and images are very good because it actually looks like they are shooting each other it is just like how an actual film company would make the film but they would just make it look a bit more professional. What could be improved in the clip is the title sequence at the start, the name of the film needs to be made so it is more memerable. Also the font and colour of the writing would look better if it had a bit more colour and a better font.

Tangled opening film analysis



Tangled
This is the opening to the film tangled the genres of the film are fantasy, romance, animation, comedy, musical and a family film. By the start of the film you can tell that she gets a lot of things done for one day, she does the amount of things most normal people do in about a month. This helps us to see that she does not have a life also by the words of the song saying 'When will my life begin'. It shows the audience that she is trapped in a castle and is so willing to get out but something is stopping her but we don't know what. She is very desparate to see the glowing lights so it makes the audience think 'why doesnt she?'

The camera angles vary a lot from medium shots to close up to long shots. This is good because it makes the film more interesting. The setting is all in one room and it is like a normal house but everything is in one big room instead of many rooms. Many props are used throughout the scene because she sings about cooking and cleaning and reading etc so props are used like a book and baking tray. The lighting is natural throughout the whole scene because you can see the light shining through the windows. The girl is in a pink and purple dress throughout the clip so the costume stayd the same.

The sound in the clip is diegetic because the character is singing it herself so she can hear the music. The pace throughout the song increases because the amount of jobs she does adds on and this shows a lot espacially towards the end when she is brushing her hair this expresses to the audience how much she actually has.

Comprehensive Textual Analysis



This is the opening of the film Skyfall, the genres of this film is Crime Fiction, Spy film, Thriller, Adventure and Action. All of these are shown in the opening of the film as the clip varies from being scary and someone being drowned in the ocean to someone standing alone with a gun then being taken through what is looks like blood vessels. A wide variety of camera shots have been used in the clip for example panning, long shot, medium shot, close up shot,overhead shot and they have been used in lots of different ways for example zooming forward through a grave yard this to show the effects and all of the transitions that have been used. The movement in the clip is very flowing and fast as it takes you through all these different environments like the ocean and then empty building etc. 

The Mise en scene is very clever as all of the lighting varies throughout the clip at some points it is very dark and gloomy and at some points it is very eerie and then it contrasts to a red scene that is meant to be all blood. You only mainly see one character throughout the beginning and when you do see him he is in a suit and he is holding a prop of a gun. The setting is very dramatic and dull this shows that the film is going to be gory and violent maybe sad but also adventurous. You do not get to see the character up close so you cannot see what makeup they are wearing. There is only one sound throughout the clip which is the song Skyfall by Adele it has faded out any dialogue in the scene. Lots of different transitions have been used in the clip to make it look better and stand out more they also look good because they help to match the pace of the opening scene what is actually happening in the clip looks very confusing and at this moment in time you do not really know what is going on.

Self Evaluation

What did you learn about filming and editing?
When making this video I learnt how to use a video camera and how to use it with all the different shots and angles you need to get the shot you want to achieve. When editing I found it difficult at first because you have to get all the cutting spot on to make the video look good and make sure the timing is correct. I learnt that you must overfilm each shot so you have enough of each clip to cut and improve it also you might end up needing more of a certain clip and if you have overfilmed then it makes it easier to do.

Did you find/use any premiere effects? If so, which ones and what was the effect?
We used a cartoon effect called colour emboss to make the picture look similar to the opening clip of the film. This made it more effective and therefore better to look at because it is more striking and realistic just like the actual film opening.

What went well in the filming and editing? How does it look compared with the original opening sequence?
Compared to the original clip the opening looks very similar with the effects and how it is filmed also all the angles of the camera are similar too because tried to use the exact same shots as the clip. The editing went well because we all felt confident when using the software Premiere so we all took turns when cutting and editing the clip to get it right.The only thing that wasn't the same was the sound timing because in the film they cut some of the song at the beginning.

What could have gone better with the filming and editing?
We could have found something like a table on wheels to help us get more stable shots because a couple of them are a bit jumpy and this shows in the opening scene of our clip. The filming could have gone better if we had more experience with how to do the camera shot and how long we had to film each clip for so next time we know to be more prepared.





My Logo

This is my logo I created, it is called A Penguin Production. I got the picture off of google images and I used different transitions to help create it. I have chosen blue writing for my logo as it goes with the background of a penguin and it suits where they live. I like how the words 'A Penguin Production' slide across the screen and the picture of a penguin is in the background. I chose an animal to create for my logo because they are good because they make it effective.  
 
 
 
 
 

Preferred and Oppositional Readings



Hall's theory:

This poster of the film Ted shows preferred and oppositional readings. It shows preferred readings as the operator wants the audience to view the media text that it is going to be quite rude because it is a picture of a teddy bear that is alive and drinking alcohol, sitting on the sofa. So what you see in this image is what you think is going to happen in the film. This poster also shows oppositional readings because some people might look at this image and see a sweet, innocent, little teddy bear that is a child's play toy and that's what they assume the film is going to be about. But in fact it is the total opposite.
